Is Rathmines considered a lovely area?

Rathmines (District 6), is an attractive address. It is ideally situated, away enough from the centre of Dublin to get away from all the noise and hustle, but close enough to the city that it can be easily walked for a good half hour.

As an inner-city location, although it is quite secluded, there aren’t any large parks within striking proximity. However, there is a lot of green in the area.

Belgrave Square can be found between Ranelagh or Rathmines. It is described as an oasis’ of tranquility by one Yelp user. It features a playground, paths, benches and greenery for the children.

Ranelagh Park and its duck pond and playground are both located within easy reach of Ranelagh. Mount Pleasant Square has a small but well-maintained park, though it is mostly used by a club tennis player.

Be aware that St Stephen’s Green is only a quick drive away and Iveagh Gardens are also within walking distance.

Rathmines has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and bars

Yelp.ie lists 37 restaurant options in the vicinity, almost all of which are strung along Rathmines Road. There’s a broad range of cuisines available too, including authentic Italian Pizza at Manifesto as well as Palestinian plates at Shaksuka. The Carrot’s Tail also offers vegan delights. According to Yelp there are 9 espresso shops in Rathmines.

The bar scene is a hub of great nightlife. Yelp.ie lists 46 Pubs and Bars within the area. Although it does include Portobello and Ranelagh, the list also includes 47 Pubs.

Delivered takeout? You can get take-out delivered to your home with 183 addresses on Just Eat. Deliveroo has approximately 200 addresses.

Rathmines village is bustling and has many independent shops as well as supermarkets such Lidl Metro.

The Swan Shopping Centre features a mid-sized Dunnes Stores alongside outlets such as Fallon & Byrne Holland & Barratt Dowlings Butchers.
